At the 26th Asian Athletics Championships held in Gumi, South Korea, Liu Junxi from Jingjiang clinched the silver medal in the men's 110-meter hurdles with a time of 13.31 seconds. Fellow Chinese hurdler Qin Weibuo followed closely, earning the bronze with a time of 13.45 seconds.

In the final, Liu started in lane five and Qin in lane six. Their main competitor was Japan's Rachid Muratake, runner-up at this year's Diamond League Xiamen stop. Muratake took an early lead right out of the blocks. Liu pushed hard to close the gap but remained half a step behind, finishing second.

Liu, born on Dec 11, 2003, is a member of Jiangsu province's track and field team. He achieved his personal best of 13.24 seconds at the Diamond League in Xiamen this April, where he won a bronze medal and met the qualifying standard for this year's World Athletics Championships.

Earlier in March, Liu secured a bronze in the 60-meter hurdles at the World Athletics Indoor Championships with a time of 7.55 seconds. He became the second Chinese male hurdler — after Liu Xiang — to reach the podium at a world championship.
